Wish You Were Here, from a William F. Marriner Wannabe
Here's another card from that Marriner copycat we saw back in March. Just like the other one, there is no publisher credited, and the postmark (once again really faint) seems to be 1910.
I enjoy William Marriner's art and noticed some of his later Sambo's look a little off. It almost looks like those were traced and lack the spontaneity of some of the other pages. Wish I wish I could delineate more as to what looks different. Something about the eyes and facial expressions maybe ???

ReplyDeleteMarriner had many copiers, and in his later years on Sambo it is believed he may have been ghosted by Pat Sullivan.
