Herriman Saturday
Sunday, April 26 1908 -- George Memsic has lost his last two bouts, against Rudy Unholz and Phil Brock. Word among fans is that he ought to consider himself washed up if he can't win his next fight. And that's not Memsic's only challenge -- he's really having trouble getting down to 135 pounds for his fights lately, the max for a lightweight.
Memsic's chance for redemption has been set for May 5, and his challenger is Clarence English, a boxer with a mixed but generally sound record. English apparently has his own weight problems, as he has challenged Memsic to a 'catchweight' bout -- meaning a match where the weights of the boxers are not necessarily in the same class.
