Herriman Saturday
Tuesday, April 21 1908 -- Apparently the amateur boxing extravaganza put on by Jim Jeffries for the Great White Fleet sailors on shore leave came off quite well. This despite some decidedly amateurish amateurs in the mix, by Herriman's lights.
My name is Allan Holtz. I am a comic strip historian, and author of "American Newspaper Comics: An Encyclopedic Reference Guide."
