Herriman Saturday
Wednesday, April 22 1908 -- As part of the amateur boxing extravaganza put on at Chutes Park for Fleet Week, apparently there was sort of a comic relief round-robin between five amateur negro fighters. If Herriman's cartoon is accurate, I gather they were basically pulled off the street -- they didn't know anything about boxing technique, and they didn't wear boxing trunks.
